High School Placement

Exploring Options: Searching for a high school is an exciting milestone! Parents receive updates on important admissions dates and events from the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

Preparing for High School: Middle school students begin developing the skills needed for high school success—organization, time management, collaboration, and self-advocacy. Students rotate between eight teachers, manage lockers, and follow a structured schedule.

Starting in fifth grade, students are encouraged to attend high school Open Houses or explore school websites. Sixth graders may participate in “spend a day” programs to experience high schools firsthand.

Seventh Grade Support: Seventh graders serve as student leaders and participate in key traditions. Early in the year, a parent/student meeting explains the high school application process and class trip details. Holy Name hosts a High School Information Day, where Catholic high schools present to students and answer questions. Students can also meet admissions directors, current high school students (often HNJ alumni), and administrators.

Test Preparation: Flourish Prep helps seventh graders prepare for the Catholic high school placement test, offering strategies, practice questions, and skill development in math, reasoning, reading comprehension, and problem-solving. Visit www.flourishprep.com for details.

With guidance from middle school teachers and the administrative team, students and parents are fully supported throughout the high school selection and application process.
