Mrs. Lee Gardemal dedicated her career to supporting Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, spending her final sixteen years at Holy Name of Jesus School. Known affectionately as “Mrs. Lee,” she was the heart of the HNJ community, advocating for students, faculty, and staff and always putting others first.
A passionate supporter of Holy Name athletics, Mrs. Lee could often be found cheering on the Gators at multiple games in one afternoon. She took a special interest in all coaches and athletes, earning the admiration of students and families alike.
In 2008, the Holy Name of Jesus Gator Run was renamed in her honor. Additionally, each year, a 6th-grade boy and girl are awarded the Lee Gardemal Award, including a partial tuition credit for the following school year. Recipients are recognized for exemplifying Mrs. Lee’s positive attitude, integrity, and dedication, serving as true “boys and girls for others” and leaders by example.
